Title: Boolean Expressions – Contemporary art and mathematical data.
Tickets: Admission free/suggested donation €5
Matthew Ritchie has produced a new series of drawings for ‘Boolean Expressions’, an exhibition that explores the ways in which artists use mathematical ideas and systems in their work, and commemorates the legacy of Cork born ‘father of the information age’, George Boole.
The New York based artist also presents a number of related works including ‘Monstrance’, an animated exploration of choreographed performance and diagrammatical networks created in collaboration with Bryce Dessner (The National). Utilising a number of content platforms from paintings to wallpaper and from books to songs, ‘Monstrance’ displays Ritchie’s fascination with diagrammatic thinking and information theory.
