Sounds from a Safe Harbour is very excited to be partnering with the Sirius Arts Centre in Cobh to present a unique and special excursion celebrating the energy and essence of the festival. The lucky and adventurous will depart from the Port of Cork by ferry (90 mins) where they will stop en route to be serenaded by Landless, a four-part acapella group. On arrival to Sirius, they will be brought to Miranda’s Veranda and treated to lunch (but not as you know it) by the amazing The Domestic Godless, who have been a thorn in the foot of Irish gastronomy for over ten years, before stepping in to the Gallery for a double bill event by Rainfear (breathtaking hyper-improvisation) and Sirius artists in residence Nad Spiro. Nad, who considers the harbour as a setting for acoustic transit – transmission codes, navigation narratives, signal stations and audio connections in the harbour’s auditory space. This event is for culturally curious and experimental spirits.
We anticipate we will have you back at the Port of Cork before 5pm.
The Domestic Godless have been a thorn in the foot of Irish gastronomy for over ten years, with an irreverent disregard for current fashions and culinary trends. They have introduced to the world such delights as Sea Urchin Pot Noodle, Foot & Mouth Terrine, Carpaccio of Giant African Land Snail and Victorian high tea wrought from all manner of fertilizer, often in the setting of anarchic installations. For Sail to Sirius, they will create a lunch dredged from Cork Harbour for you to sample and wash down with their own sea-lettuce mouth-wash.
